The university already is the largest provider of postgraduate continuing education in Austria and is now striving to become the leading competence center of academic continuing education in central Europe within the next few years.
Internationally recognized Master’s degrees
The majority of the students of Danube University Krems have a university degree. Therefore, the main part of university teaching in Danube University Krems consists of courses which are concluded with an internationally recognized Master’s degree such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Laws (LL.M.). The range of courses offered here extends from executive MBA, IT consulting, European Union law, solar architecture and music management to health care management, psychotherapy and special fields of dentistry. Danube University Krems also offers a number of short courses and seminars.
Renowned lecturers assure high quality in education
There are five departments at Danube University at Krems, which cooperate across the perimeters of the individual subjects. The university is commited to international aspects and to cultural diversity along the lines of education and research. The students come from 40 countries. More than1,000 internationally renowned lecturers not only assure a high quality in education, but also the consistent exchange with the scientific community and international enterprises. Danube University at Krems cooperates with 50 universities worldwide, including the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, USA.
New campus with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities
Danube University Krems is located in one of Europe’s most beautiful cultural landscapes, the Wachau region along the Danube, which has been named a world cultural heritage site by the UNESCO. A renovated tobacco factory dating back to the onset of the 20th century and new buildings on Campus Krems provide students and educators with an open, innovative, and motivational atmosphere for research and studying. The campus, which was opened in 2005, features a research center, a lecture hall, an arts cinema, a library, and a cafeteria. An approximate 56,2 million euros were invested into the novel facilities. The new premises are home to 4,500 students and 400 employees of Danube University Krems, IMC Fachhochschule Krems (University of Applied Sciences) and NO Bildungsgesellschaft mbH (Educational Society of Lower Austria), providing space for working, learning, and teaching. Campus Krems provides the region with a new landmark of international acclaim.
DUK welcomes the cooperation of ILSP / R.C. "Athena" (Institute for Language and Speech Processing / R.C. "Athena") – Athens, Greece, with our own ‘Kommunikation,IT und Medien” dpt., aiming to offer a Master of Arts degree in the field of Quality Journalism, commencing the Fall of 2007 and a Master of Science degree in the field of Education Technologies, scheduled for Fall of 2008.
